The 5th annual C.O.V.E. Benefit Beach Walk (5K) and Run 5K/10K Run will be held at Charles Mears State Park starting 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012. The 5K and 10K races will follow a course covering paved, sand and beach surfaces. This is a perfect opportunity for walkers and runners to get in their morning exercise and enjoy the spectacular scenery along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Wine & Art at the Harbor Sept 8 at 2-5pm Location: Snug Harbor Marina – 616 S Hancock Street Tickets: $30.00 in advance or $35.00 at the door The Grapes of Mirth organization will hold its 8th annual “Art and Wine at the Harbor” benefit Saturday, September 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Snug Harbor Marina in Pentwater. Tickets are $30.00 per person in advance or $35.00 at the door. The event benefits Harbor Hospice and the grand sponsor is Huntington National Bank. The gala art auction and wine tasting takes place in a tent overlooking beautiful Pentwater Lake. The price of admission allows guests to sample 50 domestic and imported wines, enjoy great food and desserts and music by the Westside Jazz Ensemble. A silent auction of original artwork donated by local artists will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm and proceeds benefit Harbor Hospice. Tickets are available at all Huntington Bank locations. Proceeds from the raffle and ticket sales will benefit Oceana Animal Friends, with a special appearance by a couple of their adoptable friends. Stampin’ for a Cure
Saturday, October 13 Stampin’ for a Cure raises $2,500 The Annual Stampin’ for a Cure event held at St. Vincent’s Church in Pentwater on Saturday, October 8th raised $2,500 which will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure West Michigan Affiliate. For the second year in a row, this local group of ladies surpassed their goal in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month while hosting 47 crafters. “We had great support from local businesses, crafters and volunteers to help make this important event a success” says Jenny Peterson, event coordinator, who has lost two aunts to breast cancer. “Most of us have had breast cancer affect our lives in some way and we are grateful to be hosting an event in honor and memory of those women”. Many local businesses contributed to the Silent Auction and luncheon while volunteers made food, worked in the kitchen and helped others at the tables assemble the cards. Organizers ask all to watch for the Third Annual Stampin’ for a Cure next October.

Spooktacular Parade Oct. 27 at 4pm Come to the 6th Annual Halloween Spooktacular Parade downtown Pentwater. There should be several ghosts, goblins, monsters and more. The Pentwater Band will be marching. Consider being in the parade too. It is open to school classes, individuals, families, merchants and pets. Be as creative as you like, making floats or simply come in a costume, the parents are of course welcome to walk with the kids. The main rule is to be in the Halloween Spirit and have fun! To register pick up a form and return it to Cenzo’s Italian Market and Grocery. Line up at Charlie’s Marina (240 W. 6th Street, Pentwater) at 3:00pm and not late than 3:00pm

The will be free homemade donuts provided by the Pentwater Fire Department at the Fire Station (486 E Park Street, Pentwater, MI) at 5pm. Get there earlier in the evening to make sure you get a awesome fresh donut.
