4th Annual Oceana Jazz Festival April 13th at 7pm Location: Shelby HS Auditorium Featuring the Hart, Shelby and Pentwater High School Jazz Bands and the Truth in Jazz Orchestra. Come see the homegrown talent of our student musicians playing alongside the professionals of the Truth in Jazz Orchestra. It will be a night to remember and enjoy for a great cause. All funds raised are a charitable contribution and will be used for student scholarships and community projects. Tickets: Adults: $8.00 Students (K-12): $6.00 Seniors over 59: $6.00 Immediate Family Rate: $20.00 Band Parents: $4.00 (half price) Tickets at the door or at any Shelby State Bank Branch.

Participants include: Make-up demonstrations, local artists, great deals on clothing and accessories, local crafts, and more. 100% Wine & Beer Tasting sales and 15% of booth sales benefits the new Women's Imaging Center at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington.

29th Annual Oceana County Folk Fest
April 26th 9am to 3pm Location: Oceana County Fair Grounds in Hart Michigan
Open to everyone and is free of charge.
Provides the opportunity to stay in touch with the local heritage and learn about and share in Oceana County's diverse cultures. This is an excellent field trip opportunity and many schools should take advantage of this.
The festival is run by volenteers and includes activities such as:
Fly Fishing and Tying
Authentic Indian Teepee
Woodcarving
Petting Zoo
Road Kit Stew and much more

Mask Project Ball: "A Magical Night" April 28th 6pm to Midnight Location: AM Gallery in Ludington Proceeds Benefit Hospice Music, dinner, dancing, beer/wine and silent auction will be included in the ticket price of $30 per person. The ball will feature a silent auction of items donated by area businesses and individuals. Tickets are limited and for the past two years have sold out prior to the event, so early purchase is recommended. New this year: a bidding auction of an Amish Handcrafted quilt donated by Paula Estle of Ludington, valued at more than $800. The quilt can be viewed at the Ludington Public Library for the month of March and bids are accepted at the Library or by contacting Lexi. Reserve bid must be met, bids will be accepted until Friday April 27th at noon.
Semi-formal attire is suggested.

May 2012 Wine and Art Scholarship Benefit Sunday, May 20, 2012 | 2pm-5pm Tickets: $20 in advance or $25 day of Wine & Art lovers are invited to our Pentwater Women’s Club 6th Annual Wine & Art Scholarship Benefit. Enjoy 30 fine wines, over 50 delectable hors d’oeuvres, and a plethora of beautiful artworks and gifts from local businesses which will be on display for a Silent Auction. All proceeds support college scholarships for graduating seniors. Tickets are $20 and available in April 2012 from Durand Wine Company in Pentwater, Snyder Shoes in Ludington, and from Beverly Kelly at 231-869-2471. Tickets will be $25 at the door. 28th Annual Memorial Weekend Amateur Salmon & Trout Fishing Derby May 26-28th Awards Ceremony: Monday at 2pm Calling all Fishermen! Men, Women, young and old. Come take part in the Pentwater Sportfishing Association 28th Annual Memorial Weekend Amateur Salmon & Trout Fishing Derby Over $3,500.00 in prizes. Categories included: Salmon ~ Lake Trout ~ Brown Trout ~ Steelhead. Registration: Friday, May 25th at 4:00pm till 8:00pm at Pentwater Municipal Marina (Early registration at Charlie’s Marina). Marine Corps League Pancake Breakfast May 27 at 8am-Noon At VFW Hall, all you can eat. Proceeds go to Marines helping Marines. We'll be serving panackes, sausage, eggs, bacon, fruit and coffee. It is all you can eat. Cost: Adults- $7, Children (5-12)- $3, Children under 5yrs eat for FREE
Memorial Day Parade May 28 at 10am Join us to pay tribute to our Veterans. Our Memorial Parade starts at First Street with line-up at 9:30am across the street from the Baptist Church. All Veterans, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are encouraged to participate. The Pentwater Band marches in the parade and play in Services. Our first Service will be held at Municipal Marina, second at the Village Green and third at Pentwater Cemetery. The Pentwater Cemetery is located ½ mile north of downtown. Chalk it Up in Pentwater
Our 2nd Annual Chalk-it-up in Pentwater on Hancock Street’s sidewalks is on Saturday at 8am to 3pm. Sunday at 5pm-8pm is our Start of Summer Party on Sunday in front of Village Hall. Hot dogs, beverages and tableware provided - Bring a dish to pass. Open to the public. Our theme: Maritime Magic June 2 at 9am-12 noon June 3 at 9am-12 noon (Rain Date) Start your summer off right with our 2nd Annual Chalk it up in Pentwater. Chalk artist draw on the sidewalks along Hancock Street between 1st and 5th Street. Join the chalk art contest or chalk it up for just fun! All ages and all skills may join in. Visit us and enjoy Pentwater, the arts, and atmosphere. Contest Winners: 1st Place is $200, 2nd Place is $125 and 3rd Place is $75 2011 Sponsors were: Grand Rental Station of Ludington, Art for Guys (Marilyn's Style), and Shoreline Properties of West Michigan – Roberta Williams Youth/Fun Winners: 1st Place for each age group is a certificate to Storybook Village Register for the contest for $20 a person or register for fun for $5 per youth. Pentwater Community Garage Sale June 9, 2012 at 8am - 5pm Garage Sales throughout Pentwater area! This annual event creates summer deals and fun for all! Several home owners sell their items that may just turn into your treasures! The maps to all the garage sales will be available at the Pentwater Chamber on June 7th, Stop by and pick up your treasure map. Register your garage sale at Pentwater Chamber of Commerce by June 4th. The cost is $10 to be on the map.
Outdoor Safety Day June 16 at 1pm Sponsored by Pentwater Police Department. There will be 40 bike helmets and life jackets given away as part of the event. It will be held on the 100 block on 5th street.
Free Fishing Weekend June 9 & 10 Come enjoy one of Michigan’s premiere outdoor activities, Michigan Fishing, for Free. All fishing license fees will be waived for two days! Residents and out-of-state visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes’ waters for all species of fish. All fishing regulations will still apply. For details, contact Michigan DNR. So grab a pole, start a family tradition and fish in Pentwater Area Rivers, Pentwater Lake, and Lake Michigan.
Oceana County Historical Post Card Show June 16 at10am-2pm Downtown Mears at Old Town Hall Buy and sell post cards at Historical Park Transportation Museum. There are almost 3,000 Oceana County post cards available to look at. Reprints will be available for you to purchase. Meet at the Old Town Hall on Fox Road in downtown Mears for this event. Spring Fest Arts & Crafts Fair June 16 & 17, 2012 Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 10am-3pm Location: Village Green, 321 S. Hancock Street, Pentwater, MI Experience the beauty of Spring and Summer at our annual Arts and Craft Festival.
