Calling all Pie Bakers and all Pie Buyers!
YOU ARE INVITED TO THE 11TH ANNUAL FUN-FILLED DAY IN PENTWATER ON JULY 3, 2010.
On Saturday, July 3rd the Pentwater Chamber of Commerce, Cosmic Candy Company, House of Flavors and the Pentwater Pie Committee for 2010 will be hosting the 11th Annual Pie Contest and Auction on the Village Green in downtown Pentwater. Once again, proceeds from the auction will benefit kids heading to college with an anonymous donor matching dollar-to dollar up to $5,000 additional dollars.
- You may help a student you know (child, grandchild, relative or friend attending school for the 2010-2011 school year) win a scholarship! One entry per pie baked or bought and each $50.00 spent you will receive another entry form. Thirty-one $500.00 scholarships were awarded last year! Let’s make the 11th the best yet!
- Enter any kind of pie in our contest in a traditional 8 ½” – 9” disposable pie tin. One entry to be judged and extra pies will be donated with an entry for the scholarship for every pie baked. There will be a refrigerated semi-trailer to keep the pies cool all day but remember it is July – No Ice Cream pies Please and No Cheesecakes.
- Check out the scholarship raffle table for some great items!
- Buy pie by the slice and other refreshments throughout the day.
- Can you win the pie eating contest? Anyone can join in the fun. You won’t want to miss it!
Please remember that this is a fund-raiser and WE NEED YOU! Whether you make a pie (or many) or buy a pie (or many), your contribution is important. If you cannot attend, we’d still love to have your contribution! Please contact the Pentwater Chamber office 231-869-4150 with any questions or to donate. Here’s the plan for July 3rd.

PENTWATER YACHT CLUB CELEBRATES 75TH ANNIVERSARY
The Pentwater Yacht Club is celebrating their 75th Anniversary this season with a kick off dance and party Saturday evening June 26th from 8:00 until 12:00. The Yacht Club is hoping to encourage new members to join by making this event open to the public. The “Rocket Fuel Haulers” are playing, and there will be door prizes, yummy munchies and a prize for the best costume depicting an era from the last 75 years. Costume is optional! Adults $5.00 and children under 18 free. The Yacht Club has a long history in the village of Pentwater and a few members have created a wonderful coffee table type book depicting the history of the club along with many great pictures. This book will be available at the Club for $10.00 starting June 26th during the Anniversary party.
There are many enjoyable activities for members to enjoy at the Yacht Club. We have a dining service, the “Blue Chair Lounge” bar to relax in not to mention the many Adirondack chairs on the front deck to sit on while enjoying one of the most beautiful views in town. The Club offers its members bridge card playing on Wednesdays, Ensign sailboat racing on Saturday and Wednesdays, ladies Sunfish sailing and lunch on Tuesdays, offshore sailboat racing on Saturdays and a junior room with fun things for the young members to enjoy. Throughout the season we host many other member only fun events including a new member cocktail party, fashion show, Commodore’s Ball, chili cook-off, ice cream social & fireworks, the Mich./Mich. State tailgate party, and of course our great Thursday night “home cooked” dinners before the band concerts on the village green. The annual “Back from the Mac” party which is open to the public is our biggest event of the season. It includes grilled food, variety of summer salads, dancing, and the spectacular view of the many Chicago to Mackinaw offshore race boats that dock at the Club for the event. The Club also hosts the Wooden Boat Show which is open to the public.
The Pentwater Yacht Club welcomes new members, and to celebrate the 75th Anniversary the Club has waived the initiation fee for this season. We welcome all who may be interested to come to our 75th Anniversary celebration June 26th, the “Back from the Mac” party July 30th, and the Wooden Boat Show August 28th. We would love to see you there! |
