Mission:The mission of the West Michigan S.A.I.L. Program is to provide our veterans of past wars and at-risk local youth experience PTSD, depression and other health and life challenges with a nature inspired confidence building sailing program. 

                        S.A.I.L. = Service Veterans At-risk Youth Interact Living

The WMS.A.I.L. Program will have three phases:

            Phase 1) basic sailing, with no overnight sails;

            Phase 2) Intermediate Sailing, with overnight sails to nearby harbors, sleeping on                           the Schooner; and

            Phase 3) Advanced Sailing, which may include sailboat races, cruises from harbor              to harbor and across Lake Michigan, and “harbor hopping” along the Lake                        Michigan shore.  

Charters for Hire

The sailing season will have a blended schedule, alternating between the sail training program and fund-raising events and chartered cruises – including day and sunset cruises, corporate outing, burial of ashes, and weddings, etc.  The income from fund raising and charter cruises will allow the veterans and youth to participate in the traditional sail training at no cost.
